Italianistica, borsa di studio triennale a Cork

L’università di Cork (Irlanda) offre una borsa di studio per un posto di dottorato di ricerca presso il Dipartimento di Italinistica. La borsa di studio è intitolata a Eduardo Saccone, professore di italiano presso la stessa università tra il 1994 e il 2003. La borsa di studio può essere rinnovata fino ad un massimo di 3 anni. La borsa di studio implica anche circa 150 ore di docenza nell’anno e altri impegni richiesti dal dipartimento.
I candidati devono rispondere al bando inviando il materiale richiesto entro giovedì 30 maggio 2013.

The Eduardo Saccone PhD Scholarship in Italian Literature

The Department of Italian, University College Cork, is offering one scholarship with a total value of €20,000 per annum, to cover fees (€5,770 per annum for EU students; €11,540 per annum for non-EU students) and the balance to be paid as a stipend in monthly instalments. The Scholarship is renewable for a total of up to three years, subject to the student receiving satisfactory progress reports
The Scholarship, named after Eduardo Saccone, professor of Italian at UCC from 1994 to 2003, is for PhD research on a topic in the area of modern and contemporary Italian literature.
The Scholarship includes a limited number of teaching and related duties in the Department of Italian to be agreed with the Head of Department. The scheme will require the student to undertake the equivalent of 135-150 tutorial hours.
The Department of Italian at UCC has a strong graduate studies programme, with over ten doctoral students researching topics in modern Italian literature and in Film Studies. For more information, please see:

Deadline for receipt of applications: Thursday, 30 May 2013.

The successful applicant would be supervised by either Dr Mark Chu, Dr Daragh O’Connell, or Dr Silvia Ross, in an area that falls within their research interests (www.ucc.ie/en/italian/research/ ), and will commence the doctoral degree in October 2013.

Applicants should send the following materials by the deadline:
– a cover letter
– cv
– project proposal on the appropriate form (see link below),
– a writing sample (no longer than 6,000 words)
– transcript(s)
– two references (to be sent directly by the referees)
